^2 (A)But Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no ^[a]sons. So Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests. ³ And David, with ^(B)Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their assignments for their service. ⁴ And more chief men were found from the ^[b]sons of Eleazar than the ^[c]sons of Ithamar, so they divided them thus: there were sixteen heads of fathers’ households of the ^[d]sons of Eleazar and eight of the ^[e]sons of Ithamar, according to their fathers’ households.
